Labour Candidate for Newport East

Local Campaigning

Foodbanks

I continue to visit the wonderful food banks in Newport East, such as the Caldicot Food Bank, to see the amazing work of their volunteers.  They tirelessly help those in our communities who have been forced to turn to food banks as a result of the Coalition Government's welfare cuts, making families struggle just to put food on the table.

passportoffice.jpgJohn Griffiths AM, Paul Flynn MP and I campaigned hard with PCS Union against the Coalition Government's cuts to the Passport Office.  Of the 350 jobs at risk, 200 were saved.  We warned that the 150 jobs which were cut in Newport would impact on the service, and as we have seen this has caused a crisis in the Passport office in 2014.

DSCF9093.jpgI campaigned with Farepak campaigners and local Councillor, Debbie Harvey, to fight for justice for the victims across Britain who lost out when Farepak collapsed.
