It’s great to see Newport Citizens Advice Bureau promoting Scams Awareness Month, which runs through July.

Scams affect millions of families across the UK every year, and their impact can be ruinous. Traditional methods of scamming -; including doorstep selling and cold-call ‘vishing’ -; continue to pose a threat. However, we also need to be wary of a multitude of new and developed techniques employed by scammers; from fake IT services and premium rate text traps to online scams and the sale of a diverse range of counterfeit goods.

Newport Citizens Advice Bureau are asking consumers to act on their concerns, and to obtain advice from the Citizens Advice Consumer Helpline 03454 04 05 06 and report scams to Action Fraud 0300 123 2040. They are also hosting a Scams Awareness Campaign stand in Friars Walk at the end of July.
