Jessica Visits Green Lane School 25 March 2007

Jessica Went Back To School Today

Jessica Morden MP for Newport East went back to school today (March 26th), to Green Lane Primary School in Caldicot. During her visit she was taken on a tour of the school and answered questions from the pupils on her role as an M.P.

Jessica Morden MP said: "Visiting schools and meeting the children in my constituency is a huge pleasure for me, I always look forward to answering their questions. Children are always interested to learn about how government and politics work, the challenge is to keep them engaged."

Jessica Morden MP for Newport East also met long-serving Head teacher Ken Jacob, who is retiring this year after over 20 years of serving as Head teacher at Green Lane.

Jessica Morden MP said: "Headteachers like Ken Jacob are a vital asset to the communities they serve. Mr Jacob is a well respected Headteacher and I would like to thank him for his excellent service to our community and wish him well for his retirement".

With Gordon Brown announcing that education spending will rise to £90 billion by 2010-11, the highest ever level, and the Assembly continuing to invest in education and life-long learning I hope that Schools across Newport East will have the resources available to continue to build on the excellent work they do.
