Government Stimulus for British made Green Technologies - Electric Cars

The Labour government has shown its commitment to reducing the UK's carbon emissions and creating new jobs by announcing a £100 million package to accelerate the emergence of the greener vehicles for tomorrow.

The package includes an invitation to motor manufacturers to bid for the opportunity to participate in a £10 million project to run electric and low-carbon vehicles and £20 million dedicated to researching new and greener technologies. It is hoped that this investment will give stimulus to high-end manufacturing in the UK, and could provide up to 10,000 new British jobs.

Jessica Mordan MP welcomed the initative and said "This will help to bring the UK to the forefront of producing innovative green technologies, creating hopefully thousands of new jobs. I have been a great supporter of Government policy in dealing with climate change and I've always felt that although we are facing a big challenge we can simultaneously combat climate change while creating new jobs - I hope this is only the start."
