In Parliament

"In tough economic times we can't afford not to look after our environment" says Jessica 26 July 2010

Jessica Morden last week hosted the RSPB summer reception at the House of Commons for MPs who had signed the coalition Wildlife pledge and the RSPB’s letter to the future. The event, which was co-sponsored by ten other wildlife charities including the Woodland Trust, reminded MPs of their responsibility to protect our natural environment and restore the biodiversity we have lost.

Jessica said "With the fantastic Newport Wetlands in my constituency, I've huge admiration for the work the RSPB does. Like many candidates, I signed up to be a Wildlife Champion during the election. Now, with spending cuts looming, its time we remember that pledge and how important it is we continue to invest in nature, so we can stop and reverse the loss of wildlife. It’s great to be part of this important campaign, and it’s up to MPs in the new Parliament to renew our drive to protect the environment so future generations do not pay for our inaction."
