Jessica takes up 'great opportunity'

Announcing Ms Morden's appointment, Peter Hain said: "I am delighted that Jessica has agreed to be my new PPS. Chris Ruane is a very tough act to follow, but Jessica is absolutely the right person for the job.

"She is enormously popular and respected among her parliamentary colleagues, and we have all been impressed by what she has achieved in the short time she's been in Parliament.

Speaking after her appointment, Jessica Morden said: "It is an honour to be asked to fulfil this important role. The post of PPS to the Welsh Secretary has been held by well-respected political colleagues like Chris Ruane and Wales Office Minister Nick Ainger.

"I hope to learn from their experiences and promise to attack the role with enthusiasm and dedication. It is a great opportunity, I am only the third female MP from a Welsh constituency to become a PPS and I am really looking forward to taking up the challenge."
