MP urges small local businesses to sign up for Government Contracts 06 February 2009

MP URGES SMALL LOCAL BUSINESSES TO SIGN UP FOR GOVERNMENT CONTRACTS

Small businesses in the local area are being encouraged to sign up to the government's Supply2.gov.uk website, so they can take advantage of tendering for government contracts as soon as they are available.

Jessica Morden, MP for Newport East, said "I really want to urge all local businesses to sign up to this website. They'll have access to up to the minute government contracts which are available for small firms; it could provide work for local businesses struggling through this tough time."

More than 123,000 companies have already signed up to the website which gives advice on how best to access government contracts and also a free daily alert notifying them of new opportunities.
