Post Office Card Account Saved 17 November 2008

Jessica Morden MP Is Delighted To Hear the Post Office Card Account will be saved.

Jessica Morden MP welcomed the Government's decision to award a new contract for the continuation of POCA directly to the Post Office. The decision ensures that some of the most vulnerable people in our society will continue to have easy and convenient access to the Card Account service and simultaneously gives local Sub Post Masters a business boost during this tough time.

Jessica Morden MP said "This decision is very much welcomed. I know that some 7470 people from Newport East use, rely on and trust the Post Office Card Account service provided by local post offices. Some 1300 constituents got in touch with my office urging me to help the Post Office keep these services, it was vitally important that their views were heard. I'd like to thank all those people who contacted me.

This announcement has been welcomed as good news for Post Offices protecting an important source of income and bringing customers through the doors of Post Offices across the country.

Jessica continued "I've worked closely with some local Sub Post Masters over the last few months, seeing their dedication and commitment in serving their local community and making their post office a success. I am really pleased for them."
