Villa Old Stars are winners for local charities 10 May 2009
Winning for Charity
ASTON Villa Old Stars' charity match in Caldicot drew a record crowd when they played local veterans Mathern Vagabonds' at Caldicot Town FC. Villa's legends ran out 4-1 winners - were challenged by the local side and have already agreed to a rematch.
Former England star Tom Morley who stole the show with the former hitting a hat trick is pictured with local Member of Parliament Jessica Morden at the Match.
Event organiser Jim Edwards said: ‘It was 1-1 at half time and we were playing well. Then we switched all 11 of our team for fresh legs and we still had chances second half too. But Tony Morley was outstanding!'
The match was played for Charity half of the proceeds will be donated the special class at Monmouth Comprehensive School while the other 50 percent will go to Villa's own nominated charities.
