Save the Ladyhill Day Centre

Labour MP Jessica Morden, Labour Councillors and activits are spearheading a campaign to save Ladyhill day centre, which is facing closure as part of cuts announced by the Liberal/Tory-led Newport City Council.

The centre is a crucial front-line service which caters for some of Newport's most vulnerable people from across the city. Jessica Morden MP and John Griffiths Am are backing the campaign to save the centre. A petition has been handed into the Council, but you can show support for our campaign by adding your name to this online petition.

Just remeber - local elections may seem a long way off now but the voters have long memories. Voters from all wards are watching this unfold.

This is a good facility and helps the people who need it most.

Ladyhill Daycentre is a vital facility for clients who may have no other means of contact and assistance. The members of staff at this facility are dedicated colleagues some of whom have already been resited due to cuts previously implemented.

I worked in the hairdressers at Ladyhill for many years and know how invaluable the centre is as it is, for many individuals, the only form of contact they have with other people.  They are able to get their hair done, have a bath, feed attended to and enjoy a nice social experience.

I do hope you are successful and if this closes the council should be extremely ashamed of themselves.

Kind regards.
