Jessica Morden

Labour MP for Newport East

Yesterday the community in Newport came together to pay their respects to those who lost their lives in war.  I was honoured to lay a wreath in my capacity as MP for Newport East at Newport Cenotaph following representatives from our armed forces.  The number of people attending the service grows every year as we join together to remember those who gave so much.

On Saturday night I joined the hundreds of people who attended the excellent Remembering Them event organised by Monmouthshire County Council at Caldicot Castle.  Caldicot Male Voice Choir were joined by the Military Wives and local band Rusty Shackle at the memorial concert compered by Wynne Evans.

Next Saturday 15th November the Newport branch of the Merchant Navy Association will hold its remembrance service at the memorial, Cardiff Road at 11.30 am.
