Steel workers march for pensions

steel_March.jpgThis Saturday hundreds of Steel workers from Llanwern and Orb met at Newport Leisure Centre before marching through Newport to highlight the unfair changes Tata Steel are proposing to make to their pensions.

As I have said repeatedly steel workers in Newport and around the UK have endured difficult times and adapted to this tough environment for steel by accepting changes to working patterns – the pension changes are a step too far.

I was proud to address the meeting and join the march with fellow Gwent MPs Paul Flynn and Nick Thomas-Symonds, Newport East Assembly Member John Griffiths, Newport West Labour Assembly candidate Jayne Bryant and Newport Councillors Deb Davies and Emma Garland.
