I spoke in Transport Questions today to highlight the need for greater UK-wide work investigative work on road safety, highlighting the experiences of my constituents Julian and Gill Smith. Since 2016 there has been a worrying 4% increase in fatalities, and a 9% increase in serious injuries on our roads.

Speaking in the chamber I said “Constituents of mine, Julian and Gill Smith, tragically lost their daughter Rhiannon in a car collision almost a year ago and are now campaigning for better preventative action. Is now not the time for the Minister to listen seriously to calls by campaign groups like Brake to establish a UK-wide Road Collision Investigation Branch, to provide increased evidence and crash data to prevent injuries on our roads?”
