Jessica Morden Jessica Morden - Labour MP for Newport East, Shadow Deputy Leader of the House of Commons and PPS to Keir Starmer
In Defence Questions this week I again raised the need for Ministers to help Afghan interpreters who came here under the Government scheme, but are now finding huge difficulties in being reunited with their families because of immigration rules. The Defence Minister responding told me that Government was ‘reviewing the policy constantly’, and that the House would be updated ‘in due course’. The Afghan interpreters, who served alongside British troops fighting the Taliban, deserve our full support.
I also spoke to BBC Wales about the issue. You can read the full story here: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-politics-46825201
