In Parliament today I called for more public sector employers to promote gender equality in the workplace through participation in schemes such as Chwarae Teg’s ‘FairPlay Employer’ benchmark service.
Organisations taking part in the FairPlay Employer scheme are supported to tackle gender inequality in their workplace and work towards a more balanced workforce.
Speaking in Women and Equalities Questions, I asked “Would the Minister join me in commending Chwarae Teg in Wales in their work to encourage more flexible working and gender equality in the workplace through their FairPlay Employer status? Will the Minister encourage more Government employers to seek this status, as has been achieved by the Intellectual Property Office in Newport?”
Women and Equalities Minister Penny Morduant MP responded by saying that sharing good practice would encourage other employers to ‘raise their game.
