Jessica Morden Jessica Morden - Labour MP for Newport East, PPS to Keir Starmer and Shadow Minister for Wales
Good luck to Newport County ahead of tomorrow’s big FA Cup game against Man City.
It’s the furthest County have been in the competition in seventy years, and it’s fitting that this amazing cup run comes in 2019 – thirty years on from the club’s reformation – offering another opportunity to reflect on how far County have come from the days of exile and non-league football.
It should be a great atmosphere at Rodney Parade for the visit of the current Premier League champions, and whatever the outcome on Saturday, Michael Flynn and his players have done us proud. The cup run will have inspired a whole new generation of County fans in Newport and across the wider Gwent region the club has always represented.
I was pleased to be able to highlight County’s achievements in Business Questions this week. You can watch my question on my Twitter (@jessicamordenmp) and Facebook (‘Jessica Morden MP for Newport East’) pages.
