In Parliament this week I attended the ‘Facing the Sun’ reception raising awareness of non-melanoma skin cancer.
Non-melanoma skin cancer accounts for 90% of all skin cancers and 20% of all cancers in the UK.
The incidence of non-melanoma skin cancer (NMSC) has increased by 61% in the UK over the last decade, and 100,000 cases new cases are diagnosed each year. The biggest risk factor to developing NMSC is exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the sun and tanning beds.
