First Minister Mark Drakeford AM is absolutely right to highlight the UK government’s failure to invest in Wales’ railways in his letter, as he sets out in his letter to the Prime Minister today.

Over the coming days in the House of Commons I will be pursuing with Ministers the opportunity for Newport based train builder CAF to build the trains needed and for the use of UK steel in the project.

As UK Steel have said, “we are calling on the Government to ensure that the benefits of this multi-billion pound project are felt in all four corners of the United Kingdom, by maximising the opportunities to use high-quality UK steel products.”
