Many constituents in Newport East have contacted me to ask about how they can help others who are more vulnerable than themselves during these challenging times, and I’m very grateful that volunteer networks are being set up to help the community effort in Newport and Monmouthshire.

Newport City Council are currently working with GAVO on their volunteer support network. You can register to volunteer here: https://gwent.volunteering-wales.net/vk/volunteers/my_opportunities_info_ur.htm?pID=10155841

If your organisation is looking for volunteers, email GAVO at volunteering@gavo.org.uk or add your group details straight on to the Volunteering Wales website here: https://gwent.volunteering-wales.net/vk/providers/registration_provider.htm?fbclid=IwAR2QaZ3ozItZKtoy6KTZGq6ADKv8xfrwB1K-nFM_m-7DKSDvKuNpzecFJuw

Monmouthshire County Council are also working on a volunteer’s action programme – you can find out more by emailing partnerships@monmouthshire.gov.uk or visiting https://ourmonmouthshire.org/

There are other volunteering opportunities available with British Red Cross, who are looking for community reserve volunteers – you can find out more at www.redcross.org.uk/get-involved/volunteer/volunteer-in-emergencies
