Yesterday, the UK Government announced that they are removing the £20 Universal Credit uplift. 79% more households are claiming Universal Credit in Newport East since the beginning of the pandemic & rely on the uplift for financial security. Labour will continue to call on the Chancellor to cancel the cut to Universal Credit.
