Jessica Morden Jessica Morden - Labour MP for Newport East, Shadown Deputy Leader of the House of Commons and PPS to Keir Starmer
âšī¸ Following a court ruling on the 31st of July, a new compensation scheme is available for people who took out unaffordable loans with certain doorstep and payday lenders.
These lenders are đđ§đ¤đĢđđđđŖđŠ, đđ§đđđŖđŦđ¤đ¤đ, đđđŠđ¨đĒđĸđ and đđĄđ¤ and cover loans taken out between 6th April 2017 and 17 December 2020. Only ÂŖ50 million is available in the Scheme, so whilst full refunds are unavailble you could still receive some money back and your credit record cleaned.
Key things to remember are:
âĄī¸ You don’t need your original paperwork
âĄī¸ You only have 6 months to claim starting from 5th August
âĄī¸ You must submit a claim through this portal: https://scheme.providentpersonalcredit.com/Claims.html
âĄī¸ If you had a loan with another payday or doorstep lender there are other routes for you to make a claim
