Steel makers including Tata and Liberty Steel in Newport East have been hit hard by the rocketing price of industrial energy; with prices as much as 61% higher than German counterparts. Not only is the lack of government support stifling the growth of the sector, but it’s also putting plans for decarbonisation at risk.
In the House today, I asked the Minister what support would be forthcoming  for the sector. His reply was woeful.
