Members of the Newport Baha’i Community and the Ahmadiyya Muslim Association in Newport have recently been in touch with me to highlight the ongoing attacks members of their faith group in Iran and Pakistan respectively; and over recent months we’ve seen horrendous attacks on Coptic Christians in Egypt and other Christian communities across the African continent. Today, I asked the (current) Foreign Secretary to confirm that dealing with international counterparts to tackle the persecution of religious minorities across the globe will be an important priority for whoever takes on the role.
