Responding on behalf of the opposition to last week’s pre-recess adjournment debate gave me a chance to pay tribute to constituents and groups in Newport East, and to once again remind the government that they need to crack on with bringing in some legislation around e-scooters. It also gave me the chance to highlight the failings of this Tory government – from sustained economic mismanagement to the log jams we see from every department – there is just no hope with this government.

It’s time for a general election.
