The news of likely job losses at Tata’s Port Talbot plant is deeply concerning, for steelworkers and families including those at other Tata sites like Llanwern in Newport East.

UK Government support for the Welsh steel industry is long overdue, but must not come at the expense of hardworking steelworkers. Ministers have failed to keep their commitments to work in partnership with trade union colleagues to ensure a just transition to a green and prosperous future for Welsh steel. They have kept steelworkers and the Welsh Government in the dark, and this simply isn’t good enough.
