Last week, in a Westminster Hall debate on International support for Armenian refugees from Nagorno-Karabakh I spoke about my recent visit to the region, where I met refugees we met in Jermuk.

More than 100,000 people have been driven from their homes – almost the entire population of Nagorno-Karabakh – since Azerbaijan took control of the enclave in September 2023 and most have ended up in Armenia

One in 30 of Armenia’s population is now from Nagorno-Karabakh; although the Armenian Government have tried to be generous with the payments it is an enormous number of people to integrate and a long-term plan will be needed for those exposed and facing an uncertain future.
