I was pleased to hear that Newport City Council have announced £300k of funding to help upgrade CCTV in the city centre. I was also pleased to hear of the successes of the city’s Trading Standards team when it comes to seizing illegal tobacco and vapes.

But the time-limited nature of shop closures means that these illegal traders are back up and operating in no time at all. I asked the minister what’s being done about this in the Chamber yesterday.
