Very pleased to hear the news that Newport will be part of the second of the UK Government’s AI Investment Zones announced for Wales, which will bring a huge £10bn of investment and thousands of new jobs to South Wales, from here to Bridgend.
Newport has already established its place at the heart of the global tech industry thanks to companies in the semiconductor industry like KLA who have been operating in Newport East for decades, but this increased investment in the region will take that even further, bringing more well-paid, highly skilled jobs to the city for our young people and with extra money from the UK Government for skills training to help businesses grasp AI opportunities.
